We’re Minjung and Richard, and if you’re here that means you’re interested in Korea.

Whether your curiosity has just been sparked or have lived there for years, we hope you find something you like.

We started a translation company in South Korea in 2013 and ran it remotely while slow traveling 50+ countries. We’re a curious bunch who spend our free time finding unique experiences and learning fun facts around the world.

Minjung-and-Richard

Once the pandemic of ’19 hit we were faced with a choice, go stir crazy at home or do something productive.

Since reliable info on Korea is hard to come by in English, we decided to share our experiences, expat hacks, fun facts and some hidden gems from living in Korea on our blog.

We hope you enjoy our site!

Here are some things you might be wondering:

What is your site about?

That’s a good question! We’re still working on that. What started as a blog for our translation company that no one read, just kind of got out of hand. Now, we’re leaning towards a blog that covers:

  • Job tips in Asia
  • Business tips in Asia
  • Expat hacks
  • Cultural concepts
  • Trends

Basically, anything about Korea that can’t be found elsewhere.

Feel free to let us know what you’re curious about!

Why are you doing this?

Like many good things in life, it all began with a global catastrophe. We were slow traveling the world for 6 years until the pandemic guided us back to Korea. Since we had a lot of free time on our hands, we started sharing some interesting facts about Korea we gathered over the years. It was fun and therapeutic, so we ran with it.

Why the name “Lingua Asia”?

It’s the most generic and non-threatening name for a translation company that specializes in Asian languages we could come up with in 2013. Now we’re kind of stuck with it so we’re going to make it work!

Why should I visit your site?

Lingua Asia is run by Minjung who was born and raised in South Korea, and Richard who was born in North America, but has lived in Asia since 2006. That means we know what’s interesting and helpful, and can cover it in more detail than other sites.

Also, we’re happy to answer questions in the comments section!

How do you make money with your blog?

We recommend apps, software, education programs and products that we use and trust. They in turn pay us a small commission at no extra charge to you. It’s a win-win for everyone!
